My name is Jang Hee I. I am a Research Scientist at 3D Printing Lab, Korea Institute of Science and Technology and a master student of Inst Tech and Media at Teachers College, Columbia University. I am passionate in the development of technology to help visually impaired or blind people.
I just read about Met Media lab's interesting project about the tactile map : link and wanted to share the project by 3D Printing Lab, Korea Institute of Science and Technology.
3D Printing Lab, Korea Institute of Science and Technology collaborated last year with the school for the blind in Seoul, Korea to provide 3D printed materials to help students understanding of the textbook link. For an example, 3D printed object was not only able to accurately depict the territorial change of the kingdoms in history but also made information far more accessible and understandable than any other previous instructional materials did. The labalso expanded efforts to provide art for the visually impaired or blind people. The lab created 3D models of the famous arts and historical relics so that visually impaired or blind people could touch and more personally enjoy the art.
I've attached some pictures of lab's efforts in this post.
Thank you for reading! My email is email@example.com. Please let me know if you are interested in learning about our project and possibly collaborate to make METS accessible for visually impaired or blind people!
